DTN COMMENTS: Trade is developing in Nebraska and Texas, live deals are
marked at $255, about $1 lower than last week's weighted averages. Kansas
and Iowa remain quiet at this time.
Today's slaughter totaled 95,000 head, 5,000 less than last week, and
6,000 below a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 8,000 head,
bringing the weekly total to 524,000 head, 9,000 under the prior week,
and down 36,000 from 2025. Cattle futures ended the day sharply lower on
both live () and feeder() cattle contracts. Beef cutouts are expected to
close mixed with light to moderate box movement.
